, the rain started pouring pretty good here. yeah, but steve's been talking about it all morning. we're not expecting huge rain amounts from this storm but the ground is saturated from the storms and some commuters and residents are not taking any chances. we talked by a lumber company in mill valley. owners and employees putting sandbags there and keeping them there because of the rain. this store was flooded past sunday. storeowners tell us after this incident over this past weekend with the recent storms that they just didn't want to take any chances. >> worried about tomorrow morning? >> hopefully, it will be not that bad. >> reporter: we did drive by the store early this morning and it looks like the sand bags are working right there right now. the rain is continuing to pour down here and hopefully the sand bags will prevent any flooding here. on a side note as we take a look at -- i think the biggest concern is the roadways. tara's been talking about it all morning. there were three accidents on the 80. if you are heading out this morning, take it easy on the roadways and slow
nicely into san francisco at this hour 4:36 here is steve. >>> we have a nice tweet from brent in pacific, i didn't encounter anything until about the caldecott tunnel and a couple of areas are reporting fog and it will report a nice dry pattern. a couple of days it is a dry pattern and inland valleys with the fog, it looks like high pressure kicks in and there is more of a northerly breeze. the end result is a win which should take care of the fog. attempts are 50s and 60s and we have not had any cold air, it will be cooler as the pattern brings in that direction on the northerly. thick fog, a little midst and drizzle and things are calming down, maybe saturday morning, that breeze kicks in at least it should but it will be sunny and dry for a while. >>> thank you steve. the apology from the hospital, a leak that led to personal information about the dutches. >>> and highway 4 through bay point, we will have more traffic coming up. . >>> temperatures today are on the mild side temperatures in the 60s and we'll see a little bit of sun. >>> 600 were injured in support of the country's pres

. 7:07. let's go to -- let's go to steve. >>> this is a colder pattern. this may last a while. 7, 10, 15 day -- 15 days. there's a pattern with stronger systems coming in. christmas week could be kind of rainy and snowy as well. i almost had to choke there for a second. i'm okay now. coming down from cape mendocino there could be some snow. we need that because the snow level was way too high. but that's changing. there's not a lot of life with the system. heard from steve bridges up in the keys, 2 inches at lake level. it will be more of a powdery. you can see some scattered showers around, nothing widespread or anything. just kind of -- there was some towards orinda, san rafael, berkeley, emeryville, san mateo, redwood city, heading over towards the hayward side. also along highway 1 towards woodside, skyline, 84. san gregoireia and then towards the santa cruz mountains. there's been some around san jose. we'll keep an eye on that. 37 santa rosa. 44 napa. these continues will continue to drop. still nom so 50s -- still some 50s. this is a very fast-moving pattern, and it can be --
last week, meteorologist steve paulson will be here to tell us about that. >>> the district attorney's office is investigating two separate police shootings, the lastest hatched last night at a gas station near 880 in el cerrito, officers were called there at 6:40 and saw a man pistol-whip a woman, two officers opened fire, the suspect was taken to the hospital where he was reported in critical condition. no one else was hurt. >>> authorities have released the identity of a 22-year-old man shot and killed by walnut creek police officers yesterday morning. the officers said anthony banta, jr. was armed when they responded to a 911 call at the diablo point apartments 3:30 thursday morning and had no choice but to shoot him. he was pronounced dead at the scene. the officers are on paid leave while the investigation goes forward. >>> san francisco police are looking for a man who broke into a home in chinatown and groped a woman while she was sleeping. it happened around 2:00 yesterday morning in the woman's home at that time jackson and powell streets. police say the victim was woken up

-- highway 24 through la fayette, no delays. here's steve. >>> mostly clear, cold this morning. a little breeze for some. most temperatures are in the 30s. there are some upper 20s. we have a system coming in. it's splitting. i think the pattern -- this is a sign of things to come here for a while after what's been a very, very busy november and disease. i think things quiet down in january. part of this system will go north. part it is will south. 28 in santa rosa. 47 in livermore. this may be a very localized event. this is at the livermore airport. out by the lab, it's 33. they are getting a little northeast wind off the altamont pass. that's the only thing i can think of because not far away, it's 15 degrees chillier. upper 30s for some lowser to the -- to the bay. 6 -- for some lower to the bay. 6 below in tahoe. man. that's cold. see a little bit of shower activity trying to form off the north coast. i think this is falling apart. this low is heading towards southern california and i think therein lies the trend. the pattern looks quiet for the for the next 10, 15 days. you usually
is steve. >>> well, at least the rain is done, there is midst and drizzle and that will end and we'll see sunshine : the pattern is finally changing and we had a foot of rain in about a week's time. 50s on the temperatures and they have been coming down just a little bit there and that means slightly cooler patterns. as far as we are concerned, the high pressure is moving way off the gulf of alaska and that will give us a north wind. that will take care of the fog and it is more of a low cloud fog deck. it's not just to the valley but out coast will burn off seen. i think next week is -- burn off sooner. more of a westerly breeze, santa rosa as well. 60s on the temperatures and everybody is in on that temperature trend coast bay and inland. then with your weekend always in view, we get rid of that fog, we might bring cooler temperatures in and it will bring us a lot of sun and no rain there. >>> they are suing a company which makes baby products. they produce the knap nanny and chill infant recliners. they ordered a recall after five babies died after using knap nanny but baby matters ref
:07, here's steve. >> thank you very much. beautiful sunrise over the big city here. we have some areas that are clear, probably some fog otherwise its clouding up especially to the north and some rain is trying. this is not a strong system but every system so far in a rain year -- or a wet year you go with it. in a dry year this doesn't have a chance but there will be light rain parallel to the coast. it's cold. pockets of fog. mostly cloudy. chilly to cold. for some not too bad but for others really cold out there. rain develops and if the system has enough punch snow level could be around 2500 feet. that wouldn't be until later though. 34 seems possible there. livermore and concord. 1 degrees in tahoe, sacramento 32 and even reading at 30 degrees. there's cold air to the north. you can see the lines right there -- some of that air is mostly clear. that's where some of the fog has been forming. looks like i doubt much of that is reaching the ground but it might. some of this lighter rain is starting to fill in with a lot of cloud cover. but watch how it really just kind of hangs -- ki
